Caduga are a rock band from Birmingham, England, consisting of five unique and imaginative musicians. Evolving out of their blues-based roots, through years of writing, recording and reinventing, they return with their latest work - Kidnap the Sun.

Formed as Rattlesnake Remedy in 2001 and signing to BEM Records in 2005, the band toured extensively. As Kerrang! Magazine stated “Being the hardest touring rock band in the UK has turned them into one of our very finest”

2008 saw a hiatus from touring, and brought a prolific and experimental writing period. With this came the genesis of a style which dances effortlessly between rock, blues, tribal, folk and psychedelia.. A transition that led to their reincarnation as Caduga.

Due to release Kidnap the Sun in late 2011, Caduga present a new sound, bound together by eccentric harmonies and poetic lyrics, that is as sophisticated and dynamic as it is gritty. An album of extraordinary diversity, it journeys through dark, menacing depths, groove orientated highs and vast, serene spaciousness. A striking contrast of light and dark, down-tempo earthy rhythms and intense crescendos, Kidnap the Sun brings a vibrant new dawn for rock music.

Reviews & Interviews

12.08.11 HMV Institute, Birmingham - Midlands Rocks

There’s an air of anticipation at the HMV Institute Temple Bar this evening, due to the fact that tonight sees the return of the prodigal sons. Caduga, who used to go by the moniker of Rattlesnake Remedy, are back after a lengthy hiatus. Re-vitalised, re-energised and re-named!

They made a brave decision to stop and re-evaluate where they were and where they wanted to be. The result has been a fresh new approach and a more mature sound.

With a voice that was once described as “Birmingham’s new Robert Plant”, Lee Stone has lost none of his on stage charisma and style. The rest of the band members are quite happy to let him take all the attention, but if you can drag your self away from being mesmerised by Lees performance for a moment, you appreciate the skill and technique of the rest of the band. They provide the backdrop of wonderfully laid back melodies and harmonies that are the result of many months of writing and jamming acoustically. The end product is a much more mellow sound from the previous incarnation. There’s still a heaviness there, most noticeably in the anthemic Empire Rising, but it’s done in such a way that you nod rather than bang your head.

With the new material going down well with the fans old and new alike, Caduga should have no trouble quickly picking up where they left off. The album is all done and in the can, so fans can expect a release before the end of the year, and that will finally put to rest any more mention of Rattlesnake Remedy.

The band is dead, long live the band!

KKKKK

SERIOUS HOPE FOR BRITISH ROCK? JUST FOUND IT.

Onstage this super-talented quintet eclipse thier debut album 'Magic Man' with ease. Being the hardest touring blues-based rock band in the UK has turned them into one of our very finest. Lee Stone's pipes enable him to sustain notes that bleed your eardrums while in 'Freestyle' lead guitarist Ben Bartlett peels solos of such fluid, honest-to-God beauty that superlatives begin to fail. It's as if one of the biggest rock acts in the world has landed, disguised, in Nottingham. It's not just the music, which is breathtaking and flawless, it's the energy, the spring, the communication with an increasingly hysterical audience. Magic, man.
